Gina Cuyler MD FACP
Dr. Gina Cuyler was born in Panama, Central America. She immigrated to New York city with her mother at the age of 4 after her father died suddenly. After finishing High School, she received a full academic scholarship to New York University where she received a Bachelors degree in Chemistry in 1988. She subsequently received her MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry where she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Cuyler is board certified in Internal Medicine, is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. In 2017 Dr. Cuyler was awarded the University of Rochester Presidential Diversity Award. Dr. Cuyler is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer and enjoys focusing on preventive care and wellness. She is the owner of Comprehension Internal Medicine, a medical consulting firm. An alumnus of University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, she remains active with teaching and holds a voluntary faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester. She has served as a faculty advisor for the GE National Medical Fellowship Program and is President and Co-founder of the Black Physicians Network of Greater Rochester, Inc. –a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency that helps underrepresented in medicine youth pursue careers in medicine. Her volunteer work in the community includes motivational speaking to high school and college students regarding careers in medicine, fundraising and helping provide youth with school supplies and tangible role models. Dr. Cuyler has given numerous health and wellness lectures to community members and provides educational seminars regarding patient empowerment. She enjoys dedicating her time to her faith, family, friends and serving the community. She also enjoys playing the guitar.
